Omega Seamaster Review

The Omega Seamaster 300M Chrono Diver, with Automatic Chronometer version 2222.80.00 or 'James Bond' watch is built in with Quality Swiss Automatic movement. The watch is self powered with your arm movement, meaning that you must not leave this watch alone for 48 hours or the dial will stop rotating.

Presenting a classic design fused with innovative details, this Omega Midsize Seamaster Automatic Watch features a rich blue dial face, which is encased and protected by a scratch-resistant-sapphire dial window. Bringing easy readability, an alternating series of indexes and index beads adorn the dial, and a handy date calendar rests at the three o'clock position. Indexes and Arabic numerals grace the unidirectional, metal bezel, for an eye-catching contrast, and the 36.25-millimeter case is made of stainless steel. The band, also stainless steel, comes equipped with a fold-over-push-button clasp to ensure easy wearability. Built tough to accommodate your adventurous lifestyle, this striking timepiece brings your sporty style a sophisticated twist. Powered by Automatic movement, this watch is water resistant up to 984 feet.

In more recent years, Omega Seamaster 300M Chrono Diver created the world's first self-winding wristwatch with central tourbillon in 1994 and made history in 1999 with the first mass-produced watch incorporating the co-axial escapement, developed in conjunction with renowned English master watchmaker George Daniels. In simple terms, the escapement is the heart of a mechanical watch, generating the impulses that make the mechanism move. Omega's Co-Axial Escapement drastically reduces the friction among the parts that transmit energy to the other components, producing greater stability and precision and reducing service requirements.

Omega Seamaster Review
The Omega Seamaster 300M Chrono Diver watch story begins in 1848, when founder Louis Brandt began hand assembling key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen in his principality La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the northwest corner of Switzerland. However, the Omega name didn't appear until 1894, after Louis Brandt had passed away and his watchmaking traditions were taken over by his sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar Brandt. Omega watches have long been associated with glamorous screen and sports stars--the Omega Seamaster is famous for being the watch of choice for James Bond--with current ambassadors including Pierce Brosnan, Nicole Kidman, tennis player Anna Kournikova, and swimmers Michael Phelps and Ian Thorpe.

Pros:
  • The sound of the internal mechanism is almost musical. Put your ear to it and listen to the crystal like chimes.
  • Zero scratches on the sapphire crystal or the top watch region and I am very abusive to my watches.
  • Looks great in all attire without the over-the-top style. It is a bold watch but with a reserved humility.
  • Bought it for $2100 back in 2008 and it is worth every penny.
Cons:
  • This is the mid-size model which is 36m. However, due to the design, it actually looks like 35m on the wrist due to a smaller sapphire crystal opening. It's an optical illusion but as result, is only suitable for those with very small wrists.
  • Wristband and especially the clasp plate area is very prone to scratch marks.
  • Rotating bezel is prone to fine sand causing stuck or rigid rotation. This is not a design issue but something to think about when you get on the beach. If you do get sand or other fine debris in there, you can pop up the rotating bezel with a small swisswarmy knife blade and just brush it clean with a toothbrush.
Not only has it endured real world diving and some knocks which caused my Datejust to just not date (i.e. stop working), but the new co-axial movement in the Seamaster 2222.80.00 has kept 5x more accurate time, and seems to improve with age.

Firstly, the design is spectacular. it's simple, yet elegant. it's pretentious, yet gentlemanly. it doesn't call for attention and yet many people recognize the watch.
Secondly, the mechanics is divine. never having to worry about a battery makes life so much smoother--a quality encompassed in the design. the weight doesn't feel too heavy or too light. it has just the right about of weight in that it conveys physical status without having to pay too much.

Omega Seamaster Review is more than just a fashionable watch. In 1965, the Omega Speedmaster chronograph was "flight-qualified by NASA for all manned space missions" as the only wristwatch to have withstood all of the U.S. space agency's severe tests, including passing grades for extreme shocks, vibrations, and temperatures ranging from -18 to +93 degrees Celsius. The greatest moment in the Speedmaster's history was undoubtedly 20 July 1969 at 02:56 GMT, when it recorded man's first steps on the Moon's surface as part of the Apollo 11 mission. Omega watches rocketed off to space on many subsequent missions, including visits to Skylab and the historic Apollo-Soyuz link-up of Soviet and American astronauts in 1975.

It is well within COSC standards, gaining around 2 seconds a day. I love the attention to detail, such as the "wave pattern" on the face and the "Seamaster" logo on the back. It's a very comfortable watch, and not too large for a small wrist. I love the screw-down crown which really helps it to achieve 300-meter water resistance. Omega Seamaster 300M Chrono Diver is simply beautiful, and it's a watch that can be passed down the generations, unlike a quartz watch whose electronics will be gone before too long.

The Omega Seamaster Review line of watches make great gift ideas for special loved ones. They also make great awards for those who have remained with an organization for several years. Men like wearing the brand for its contemporary features and classic style. A well constructed watch like those offered in the omega seamaster professional line may be the last watch a man will purchase as the products can last quite a long time.
